A Short Biography

The Very Venerable Ninth
Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche

The Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche was born in the small village of Ralungda in Kham, eastern Tibet in 1933. At the age of five, he was recognized as the Thrangu Tulku by the Sixteenth Gyalwang Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje and the 11th Tai Situ Rinpoche Pema Wangchuk Gyalpo and enthroned at Thrangu Monastery by Traleg Kyabgön Rinpoche.

Preserving Buddha's Teachings​​

Rinpoche provides Buddhist education, fooding and lodging to more than 1000 monks, and nuns in 12 monasteries.

Free Health Care Services

Thrangu Phende Clinic at Namo Buddha provides free health care services to locals as well. Currently, it provides western, Herbal Medicine, and acupuncture services.

Ven. Choje Lama Wangchuk Topden

The Chairman of Namo Buddha Buddhist Meditation and Educational Center

Lama Wangchuk Topden was born on September 26, 1982 in Kathmandu; to his late father, Yangki Khamba, and mother, Phurbu Dolma.

In 1987, he started his basic education at The Very Venerable 9th Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s school (Shree Mangal Dvip School for Himalayan Children (SMD) located in Boudha, Kathmandu.
