FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A SECULAR SCHOOL FOR MONKS
IN PAL THRANGU TASHI CHOLING- TIBET
Lodro Nyima Rinpoche is one of the four recognized reincarnate lamas of Thrangu Monastery. He completed eight years of study at Nalanda Institute at Rumtek, Sikkim. He has been in residence at Thrangu Monastery in Tibet since 1992. After completing his traditional three-year retreat in 1995 at the retreat center there, he has worked continuously to rebuild and to better the conditions of this monastery that was almost completely destroyed by the Chinese.
Now there are approximately fifty small monks living in the monastery and it is expected that there will be many more in the future. It is the aspiration of both Lodro Nyima Rinpoche and Thrangu Rinpoche to build a school for young monks at the monastery site to enable them to have a secular education in addition to their other studies.
Lodro Nyima Rinpoche has requested help to raise the funds to build the school. He would like to build a three-story building consisting of 28 rooms for classrooms, teacher's residences and a library. The monks would attend classes from Grades One to Ten.
It is estimated that it will cost $125,000 USD for construction of the school and furnishing.
