Due to Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s serious health condition, on May 12, 2023, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon his arrival, he was escorted by members of the airport management and joyfully welcomed by an elaborate reception headed by Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche and Kyabje Tsoknyi Rinpoche, which included numerous tulkus, khenpos, and staff of Karma Kagyu monasteries, several representatives of local charitable associations, and hundreds of monastic and lay devotees. Following that, he was accompanied to his residence at the Soaltee Hotel.
At 4 pm, Guru Vajradhara went to the hospital to visit Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche, to whom he offered a long life empowerment and performed the ritual for drawing in the life force, along with conducting prayers and invoking the power of the truth for extending his life for the benefit of the Dharma and sentient beings. In the evening, back at the Soaltee Hotel, Guru Vajradhara offered his guidance and advice to tulkus, khenpos, and directors of Thrangu Monastery and its branches.
In the morning of May 13, Guru Vajradhara was welcomed with devotion and joy at the Boudhanath Stupa by an elaborate golden procession arranged by all Karma Kagyu monasteries and the Boudhanath Area Development Committee, as well as thousands of devotees holding incense, flowers, and katags. There, Guru Vajradhara lit a butter lamp and conducted extensive prayers for the welfare of the teachings and beings. Following that, he was escorted by the golden procession to Dilyak Monastery, where each of the Karma Kagyu monasteries and associations offered him a mandala and the three representations, after which everyone enjoyed an auspicious feast of traditional sweet rice and tea. Guru Vajradhara then bestowed a teaching and blessings to all the devotees who gathered there, along with offering his guidance and advice to the management of Dilyak Monastery.
In the afternoon, Guru Vajradhara visited Tek Chok Ling Nunnery, where he performed the ritual for drawing in the life force for Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and conducted prayers for his longevity. After that, he visited Karma Tekchen Lekshay Ling Monastery, offered a long life blessing to Lama Karma Thinley Rinpoche, and spent some time with him in conversation.
On May 14 in the morning, Guru Vajradhara granted an audience to Kyabje Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Yangsi Rinpoche, Kyabje Phakchok Rinpoche, and other khenpos, teachers, and staff of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery. After that, he also granted audiences and bestowed blessings to tulkus, khenpos, monastics, and lay devotees of Karma Samten Ling, the management of the late Lama Tanpai Gyaltshen’s monastery, members of the Karma Kagyu Ex-Sangha Association, and many other groups and individuals.
In the afternoon, Guru Vajradhara visited Jawalakhel Tibetan Settlement, where he granted audiences and performed consecration ceremonies for its residents. Following that, he again visited Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche in hospital and spent a considerable amount of time conducting special prayers and aspirations. Guru Vajradhara then visited Kopan Monastery to make offerings, say prayers, and express words of truth before the remains of the late Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
On May 15, Guru Vajradhara granted further audiences and offered his guidance to tulkus, lamas, and khenpos who perform vast activities to benefit the Dharma and beings, as well as numerous other monastic and lay devotees. In the afternoon of that day, he was accompanied to the airport by tulkus, khenpos, and directors of Kagyu monasteries, along with several important representatives of the Nepalese and Bhutanese governments and many other monastic and lay devotees, and he safely returned to India, where he was welcomed in Delhi by representatives of its government.
