Bringing Hope and Healing: Relief Support and Prayers for the August 26 Flash Flood Survivors

Prayers and Humanitarian Support for Those Affected by the Flood Disaster Along the Nepal-Tibet Border
On August 26, 2026, a devastating flash flood caused by landslides of snow, ice, and rocks struck the Nepal-Tibet border region, resulting in tragic loss of life and widespread destruction.
In remembrance of those who lost their precious lives in this disaster, today, October 10, 2026, Choje Lama Wangchuk Topden Rinpoche and Choktrul Damcho Rinpoche, together with more than 50 khenpos, lamas, monks, and members of the Thrangu Monastery Sangha, gathered to offer prayers and perform religious ceremonies for the deceased.
During the morning, the Sangha performed the Gönpo Tsok offering and an elaborate Phu Rab offering ritual composed by His Eminence the 11th Tai Situ Pema Rinpoche. These sacred ceremonies were accompanied by prayers and aspirations for the deceased, dedicated to their swift liberation from suffering and their fortunate rebirth in the pure realms.
In the afternoon, humanitarian assistance was offered directly to more than 100 families who had been left behind in villages and settlements devastated by the floods. Each family received an electric cooker, a warm jacket, a thermal tracksuit, a pair of trousers, and a T-shirt. In addition, financial assistance of NPR 5,000 was provided to each home.
Through these prayers, offerings, and acts of compassion, may the roots of virtue accumulated today become a cause for all those who lost their lives in this tragic disaster to be swiftly liberated from the fears and sufferings of the intermediate state and to take rebirth in pure realms.
May the suffering and hardships of all those affected by this calamity be alleviated without delay. May those who have lost their loved ones find strength and comfort, and may all affected communities soon recover and enjoy peace, happiness, and prosperity.
May the blessings of the Three Jewels bring peace to the departed and comfort to all who remain. May all beings be free from suffering and its causes.
