Completion of the Oral Transmission of the Twelve Volumes of the Extensive Prajnaparamita

In accordance with the kind permission and advice given by His Eminence Kyabje Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche recently, the Very Venerable Choje Lama Rinpoche, the regent who clearly illuminates the teachings of the Thrangu lineage, bestowed the oral transmission of the extensive Prajnaparamita Sutra from June 21, 2025 to today, July 4.

Out of great compassion for the benefit of the teachings and sentient beings, he gave the oral transmission to the various institutions of Thrangu Monastery, including the heads of branches, khenpos, teachers, omzes, varjra masters, retreat lamas, monks, nuns, and faithful lay devotees; these represent the four groups of disciples.

As a symbol of gratitude and auspicious interdependence of the completion of the oral transmission, the head office of Namo Buddha Thrangu Monastery, Vajra Vidya Shedra, Tara Abbey Shedra, and SMD Branch School jointly made offerings of body, speech, and mind, and the assembly offered khatas.

For V.V. Choje Lama Rinpoche’s long life, his activities to spread in all directions, and to follow along the path of previous Kagyu masters, the entire assembly performed the guru yoga of the great yogi Lord Milarepa and the ganachakra feast offerings.

Next, the monks and nuns of the Shedras offered verses of praise, concluding with prayers for the flourishing of the teachings, aspirations for the fulfillment of the Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s intentions, and prayers for his swift return as the protector of the teachings and beings. Khatas were then presented to the authors of the poems.

Likewise, V.V. Choje Lama Rinpoche expressed gratitude to those who participated and assisted in the construction of Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s reliquary stupa and shrine hall, organized by the head office of Namo Buddha Thrangu Monastery. They include the main overseer Khenpo Rinpoche Karma Lhabu, Drupon Lama Sherab Tendar, Solpon Lobsang Dorje, and Lama Tashi Tsewang, along with the senior and junior staff members.

In addition, he also expressed thanks to those who worked tirelessly on the new publication of the thirty-two volume Collected Works of Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche, which was completed under the general supervision of Khenpo Lhabu, chief editor Khenpo Sherab Puntsok, editor Lotsawa Khenpo David Karma Choephel and Khenpo Tashi Phuntsok, along with the khenpos, teachers, and students of Thrangu Shedra.

Choje Lama Rinpoche offered them khatas, robes, and gifts as a token of gratitude.

Furthermore, Choje Lama Rinpoche presented gifts to the local devotees who have been studying Buddhism under the organization of Namo Buddha Thrangu Monastery. Over many years, they have roused great faith and diligence and learned to read and write Tibetan, and trained in various aspects of recitation, chanting, and meditation.
