Today (June 11) is the 15th day of the month of Saga Dawa in the Wood Snake year according to the Tibetan calendar. It marks the auspicious day when the Buddha Shakyamuni was born, achieved enlightenment, and passed into parinirvana. It is also commemorates the day when our precious guru Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche passed into parinirvana.
For the consecration of the Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s reliquary stupa, Kyabgon Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche presided as the ceremony’s esteemed patron, along with V.V. Zuri Rinpoche, V.V. Lodro Nyima Rinpoche, V.V. Choje Lama Rinpoche, and V.V. Tulku Damcho Rinpoche, who led the retreat masters, khenpos, lamas, treasurers and representatives of various monasteries, Rinpoche’s sister, the treasurer of the Gyaltsab labrang, Lama Nyima of Tsurphu, along with faithful students from everywhere who gathered together to perform the Cakrasaṃvara practice.
Similarly, this morning under the organization of Kyabje Rinpoche’s attendant Solpon Lobsang Dorje, over one thousand faithful devotees including khenpos, tulkus, monastics, and lay devotees gathered to pay respects to the precious ringsel relics of Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche at the labrang. Visitors received the tsatsas made from Rinpoche’s bone relics and blessed substances.
