Today (June 12) at the great shrine hall of Namo Buddha Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, the unveiling of the precious collected works of the Very Venerable Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, the ornament of the practice lineage and holder of the three vows and three baskets, was held.
The collected works, whose 32 volumes are equal in number to the marks of a Buddha, contain 646 works in 27 sections. In the morning, the unveiling ceremony began with the four tulkus of Thrangu Monastery and the retreat master Khenpo Lhabu, along with other senior teachers, staff, khenpos and lamas ceremonially invited the collected works into the shrine hall and offered khatas.
The main guest of honor for the unveiling ceremony was Kyabgon Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche who presided over the event. Those present included V.V. Zuri Rinpoche, V.V. Lodro Nyima Rinpoche, V.V. Choje Lama Rinpoche, V.V. Tulku Damcho Rinpoche, Tulku Rabsang Rinpoche and tulkus; representatives and khenpos from the Sakya, Gelug, Kagyu, Nyingma, Jonang lineages; Geshe Thubten Jinpa (Chairman of the Nepal Buddhist Federation); representatives and khenpos and lamas from Kagyu monasteries; His Holiness’s sister Jetsun Ngodrup Paldzom; Sherab Tharchen (treasurer of Gyaltsab labrang), the great spiritual friend Lama Nyima from Tsurphu; government officials and ministers; our monastery’s khenpos and retreat lamas; the assembly of monastics, nuns, and lay devotees.
The ceremony commenced with the anthem of Vajra Vidya Institute, followed by a video message from His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa, advice on the launch of the collected works by Kyabgon Gyaltsab Rinpoche, speeches by representatives of the various dharma lineages, speeches and explanations of Rinpoche’s biography by our monastery’s khenpos and tulkus, introduction to the collected works, debates on the Shentong view by shedra students of V.V.I, and debates on the two truths by shedra students from Tara Abbey Shedra.
Finally, copies of the collected works were presented to the guests, heads of monasteries, monastery representatives, and libraries, along with introductory booklets to the collected works. The launch and distribution ceremony concluded with auspicious prayers.
This afternoon at 5 p.m., to express gratitude to Kyabgon Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche, who has shown us immeasurable kindness from the time of Rinpoche’s illness until the consecration of his stupa and unveiling of his collected works, the Thrangu Sangha led by V.V. Zuri Rinpoche, V.V. Lodro Nyima Rinpoche, V.V. Choje Lama Rinpoche, V.V. Tulku Damcho Rinpoche, Chakzola, and Drupon Khyeu Rinchen made offerings of body, speech, and mind. The entire assembly offered khatas to Kyabgon Gyaltsab Rinpoche, and received blessings and protection cords. At the end, the entire Thrangu community offered extensive prayers and aspirations for the long life of the glorious lama.
